Traditional blockchain architectures often struggle with scalability, leading to inefficiencies and increased costs. Positioning as an Enterprise-grade SaaS, this platform would need to have an architecture that was able to support 100s of clients and numerous interactions with potentially high throughput or multi-hop instances.

Beyond the architecture itself, the platform needed to scale from a cost per transaction standpoint as well, to fit within the confines of a SaaS for SMBs, making most blockchain architectures unsuitable for this endeavor.

Ensuring seamless communication between each of the architectures layers, with some variability between client-based private networks and the generally available / shared service model without data contamination, or violating common data privacy and storage compliance rules.

The project needed to cater to non-technical users, which required a heavy emphasis on chain abstraction and normalcy towards the Web2 user experience. These users would be using blockchain, but they wouldn't realize it.

To meet the demands of real-time applications, we leveraged event-driven system capable of processing network demands rapidly. This ensured low-latency transactions and high responsiveness.

Prioritizing interoperability, we designed the platform to enable cross-chain message transfers and supported cross-chain messages operating across multiple specialized blockchains suited for specific functions as part of our holistic design. This ensured the applications remained flexible and future-proof.

We leveraged the Substrate framework and used the Relay-Chain and parachain paradigm established there. Furthermore, we discerned that each client would onboard a new parachain, allowing their data and processes to be robust and allow them to evolve that directly with themselves. Additionally, however, we would deploy a set of tooling that was available to them directly, through specific communication channels.
The ecosystem grew to be multiple layers, or steps in logic processing that was laid out across multiple smaller blockchains, some available for all parties as a tool, and some privatized to each specific customer and customer users.

This approach not only meets the demands from foreseeable scaling needs, but the horizontal expansion enables parallel processing within a coherent multi-tenant environment, despite it being technically divided and connected simultaneously. This unique hub and spoke approach to a multi-chain ecosystem enables the platform to add tools that can be dynamically utilized whilst private and immutable actions continue to be used by clients, creating a comprehensive audit trail for all compliance and security needs.

The unique hub and spoke styled approach to a general architecture allowed us to connect many private networks to tools hosted by the client. This allowed the client flexibility and control over each unique client ecosystem, the infrastructure in general and the unique environments they would deploy thereafter.
Each client has their own mini-ecosystem that was able to be further developed and backed into a provided array of tools which ran on adjacent networks, accessible through cross-chain messages.
